Taylor County

This week I’m tackling segments in Taylor County. One more county to go before I swing south! Until then I’ll continue slogging along on the Northwoods’ rugged and remote trail. Eric and I joke that once I make the curve I’ll float the rest of the way like Princess Peach in Mario 2 (arguably the best Mario).

Snake Update: I thought I had seen the last of the snakes with the arrival of cooler temperatures after weeks of unseasonably warm weather. Alas, today I almost stepped on one AGAIN in the middle of the trail. Instead of yelping I exclaimed, “NO. How are you here?! You are supposed to be in your den sleeping through winter!” There was a log to the side, so I stepped on top — safe from its reach — to take a photo. Do you see it?
