Rest day & antiques
Today I knocked off 24.2 miles, hit the 1000 mile mark, and passed into Manitowoc County! Only a handful of days left on the trail. Unfortunately, three upcoming segments will be closed for hunting when I pass through and I’ll only be able to complete a portion of them. I was SO close to finishing before the 9-day gun season. Alas, I’ll have to reroute around the closures beginning Saturday, relying on temporary connecting routes to keep on moving.
The miss is because I took a rest day yesterday and ended early the day prior. For the last week I’ve grown increasingly sluggish. Though I tried pushing through, I kept missing the day’s target miles. Wednesday my body said enough and I spent the morning resting and the afternoon antiquing. This is the first time I’ve been away from Vivienne and I was bummed to further delay my return home even if it was the right thing to do. But today’s mileage shows that I haven’t lost my strength. My body just needed a day. Here’s to knocking out more big miles over the weekend and finishing on Tuesday!
I kept texting Eric pictures of my finds and reminding him that I had the truck… ;)

From earlier this week. Leaf-off season and winter are here.
With the time change I’m hiking more in the dark. Now that I’m out of the Beast of Bray Road territory I find it quite cozy.
From today. NOT OKAY. The trail has been snake-free for weeks! Even last weekend when it was back in the 60s. *sigh*
