Northbound to Door County!

It’s the middle of the night and I should be sleeping, but alas, I am not. It’s too early to wake up, and I really should try to sleep, BUT…I made it to Janesville last night! Which means as I complete the segment that winds through town tomorrow (today!) I’ll cross the southern most portion of the 1200 mile trail. Sturgeon Bay feels so close, yet there are still 330 miles left.

And soon there will be snow. The forecast calls for some flurries this weekend, but timing appears to favor the worst to occur over night. Given I’d be hiking into November I expected to encounter snow. Thanks to waterproof boots, warm layers, and a balaclava I’m prepared to stay cozy and dry.

November 11 was my estimated finish date but clearly I will miss it. I’m still hopeful that I’ll make up a few days and finish by the 19th, but if I’ve learned anything on this trip, it’s that planning beyond a few days in advance is fruitless. But I’m near the end and I WILL finish.
